Hungarian Grand Prix
The Hungarian Grand Prix is an annual automobile race that takes place on the Hungaroring near Budapest. The first Grand Prix took place in 1936 and the event drew a large crowd. However, politics and the development of World War II ended any Grand Prix racing in Hungary for the next fifty years.
Racing resumed in 1986, and the Hungarian Grand Prix became the first Formula One race to take place behind the Iron Curtain. In 2009, it was confirmed that Hungary will continue to host the race until 2016. The 2010 winner of the race was Mark Webber.
